Our electric automatic drip coffee maker died a sudden mysterious death one morning when Pineapple Hill was packed with overnight guests and there was no store within… well, you know how islands are …so I went digging through stuff from the sailboat and found my handy dandy coffee percolator. Very few moving parts. No clock. Just place it on a gas or electric or pressurized alcohol stove top or open flame then wait for the little glass bulb up top to begin the show.
Was the coffee that morning so superior to the old auto drip because the process is really cool? Or because I’m biased toward boat things and, too, had a little grudge against that auto drip failing at the worst possible times?
