Huey’s on the River

Whenever in Savannah, there’s a visit to the famous Riverwalk—a row of shops and restaurants along the Savannah River. To me, Savannah is like Charleston had a baby with New Orleans.
Whether you’re waking up at the River Street Inn—a beautifully repurposed 200-year-old cotton warehouse with modern comforts and contemporary amenities, or coming over from the Weston by water taxi, the the place for brunch is Huey’s. Crab Cake Omelet or Eggs Sardou are favorites, usually with a Bloody Mary. You’ve got to have some Beignets too. Or sometimes I skip all that and go for broke with their wonderful Nawlins Pain Perdue. Then walk it off by poking into the shops or cycling through the candy shops for free sample pralines still warm.
