Wheel and Worm Gear
My long time friend “Bird” stopped at Pineapple Hill last year after selling his bar on the Dominican Republic. Years ago, on Pelican Creek near Jacksonville Beach, we hung out on a 40′ ketch built in 1929 by Casey Boat Building. I loved that boat and the great times we had aboard her. That’s why it was so very cool that he gave me the Edson wheel and steering worm gear. They’re prized possessions as is the anchor windlass too (not shown). I keep these in the upstairs office at Pineapple Hill, the beach house in a cow pasture I share with Marianne.
